Vineyards in the highlands of Batea
The dry conditions help the growth of the vines and the production of quality wines
Batea is located on the plateau of the Terra Alta highlands, where vineyards are mainly cultivated on sandy loam soils that facilitate the drainage of water. The dry conditions are ideal for growing vines and producing quality wines.
In addition, the temperature difference between night and day helps the fruit ripen. Strong cool winds blow regularly, making the proliferation of microorganisms that can attack the plant difficult. All this means it is relatively easy to carry out environmentally-friendly wine-growing without chemical products.
Viticultors Bateans manages several vineyards on the outskirts of the village of Batea with significantly different microclimates. Young and old vines are cultivated, each with a different ripening process, and some of which are harvested by hand.
All these variables allow the cooperative to collect excellent fruit and produce wines that stand out for their authenticity, personality, and traditional character.
